An Actress Prepares
Don’t miss popular actress and 2014 Young Artist Award recipient Siti Khalijah Zainal in this restaging of her well-received one-woman show about her journey in theatre. The play, commissioned for the Singapore Writers Festival in 2016, traces her life and pursuit of theatre, from learning Chinese dance in primary school to being told she might not land roles because of her size or ethnicity. This restaging will be performed live at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre in Funan Mall and it runs until 22 Nov. Get your tickets to An Actress Prepares here.
Admire the works of not one, but five Cultural Medallion recipients at this art exhibition organised by the STPI Gallery. The show, which runs until 15 Nov, features works by trailblazers in Singapore’s art scene: late-Chinese ink artist Chua Ek Kay, pioneering collagist Goh Beng Kwan, leading sculptor Han Sai Por, performance artist Amanda Heng, and famed watercolour artist Ong Kim Seng. Plan your visit to Shaping Visions here.
Malay Pioneer Series: Women In Action
Take a trip down memory lane and discover the struggles and breakthroughs of the Malay women’s movement from the 1920s to the 1970s in this exhibition at Serangoon Public Library. On until the end of the month, the show spotlights pioneering women and organisations in the Malay community from the period. Learn more about the Malay Pioneer Series: Women In Action here.
