Relive your favourite movies at the orchestra
If re-watching movies is part of your TGIF plans, you can now opt for a larger-than-life experience, with a full orchestra playing tunes from hit movies in front of you.
The Orchestra of Music Makers (OMM) will hold the third edition of its widely popular OMM Goes to the Movies concert series on 11 Jan at the Esplanade concert hall. The concert programme will feature more than 15 theme songs to some of the biggest box office hits, including tracks from the wizarding world of Harry Potter, and the classic thriller, Jaws.
Audiences can also look forward to music from recently released films and sequels, such as The Avengers, The Incredibles, Star Wars – The Last Jedi, and How to Train Your Dragon.
The idea of experiencing movies in a concert hall might seem a little odd, if not intimidating, to those who are new to OMM’s movie-concert series. But first-timers will be reassured to know that they are in good hands.
OMM conductor Seow Yibin says his goal is to help audiences connect with the film in a fresh way, by bringing the experience of the film to life through music.
He says: “Every film has its unique story, so we hope to bring alive some of those great, emotional moments in the films through the concert.
“With each film soundtrack, I will attempt to draw out musical and emotive performances from the orchestra, to take the audience on a musical journey.”
