The Russians take their teatime very seriously: when tea is served, the table must be covered with a table cloth, and snacks, sweets and cookies served with tea. They love tea so much that they invented the samovar, a special tank to boil water for tea. These samovars were manufactured in the city of Tula, a place also well known for weapon factories. Every household has a samovar ̶ and every year, 120,000 samovars are manufactured by factories there.

Alexander Souptel, Masako Suzuki White, Guennadi Mouzyka and Santiago Jiaxi Zhang present a programme of Russian traditional music, telling stories about tea culture in Russia and weaving these in their music.
