Music from Spain – A Tempered-Strings Exploration
The Singapore Tremolo Strings performs specially selected and arranged music from the 20th century Spanish tremolo music repertoire, featuring composers such as Albeniz and Granados. The rousing numbers are typically performed with dances like the boleros, a 19th century flamenco-inspired dance, and the la jota moncadena, a courtship dance popular in Northern Spain and in the Philippines.
The Singapore Tremolo Strings performs on the Tremolo 14 Model ̶ a set of five instruments (piccolo, prime, alto, tenor and baritone). The full ensemble is an octet with the addition of the guitar, bass and percussion. It is currently part of a developmental project in this region
