Srisha and Bharath will be presenting two compositions, both by contemporary composers who were also performers. The first composition is Sama Gana Lolane composed by Sri Papanasam Sivan in raga Hindolam and Adi tala. This piece praises Lord Shiva known as Kapaaleeshwara in the Kapaaleeshwara temple in Mylapore. The second composition is the thillana Maand composed by Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman in Adi tala. In this piece, the composers seek the blessings of Goddess Kamakshi. The progression of the ragam Hindolam is a symbolic of the ebb and flow of life. On the other hand, ragam Maand evokes a sense of joyfulness and bliss. This performance, Prayaan, is a journey through the different courses of life that result in contentment.
They will be accompanied by Muthu Subramanian on the mridangam.
