Four Letter Work – I Am Not David Lee
Over the next three months, art lovers in Singapore will be able to view the work of local contemporary pop artist I Am Not David Lee, at Takashimaya Department Store in Orchard Road.
The showcase titled is the artist first solo art exhibition where he explores – Perceptions through the series . The series highlights how we see art (or even things in general) and what meanings we attribute to it.
“Perception in art is a complex relation between visual stimuli and a personal understanding. It is a theoretical postulate that aims to clarify the relation between artworks and individual opinions and evaluations.” The artist explains. “It is conditioned by numerous factors, including political, social, cultural, gender and racial. In this exhibition I hope to be able to show how perception(s) changes the way we look at art.”
Besides the SALT series, the artist will also exhibit his past work, including 2 life-size art sculptures.
This is also the first art exhibition in Singapore to be held in a department store and part of Takashimaya’s efforts to introduce local art movements and artists to shoppers, and to reinvent its retail experience.
“This exhibition not only play a key role in opening shoppers’ minds to art and the art scene in Singapore, but also help enhance the communication and exchanges between local artists and the public.” I Am Not David Lee adds.
Four Letter Work opens 13th November 2020 till 18th Jan 2021.
