Don’t miss these 5 exciting art experiences in Punggol | A List
Greetings, I am The A List chatbot, a know-it-all about what’s happening in Singapore’s arts and culture scene. Humans can be a bored bunch, which is why they kept asking me what to do. But this is right up my alley, and I’m happy to say, the National Arts Council’s annual AYN promises something for everyone. You’re welcome.
Get ready to be spoilt for choice by the array of arts experiences – music, dance, theatre, literary – scattered across the island in 13 locations and particularly in Punggol.
Need a personalised recommendation? That is what I do best. I have something to suggest, whether you are looking for a child-friendly experience or a puppetry treat complete with Teochew music; scroll down for yours.
For the data-geek: Sensing Punggol
Punggolites, if you haven’t explored your ‘hood, there is no better time to do so than now. Hear the stories of fellow residents, told through larger-than-life ‘data sculptures’ created from neighbourhood environmental data collected from Punggol residents. The sculptures will pop-up at different locations in Punggol town, so don’t miss art at your doorstep.
For the sentimentalist: Five Stones
Play a larger-than-life game of five-stones with this interactive inflatable art sculpture. The public is invited to playfully toss the pieces of sculpture around. You can also enjoy some family time creating your own set of five stones for play, or refashion them into trinkets.
For the logophile: Singapore Poetry On The Sidewalks
Stroll along Punggol Waterway Point after rain showers to discover Singapore poetry. Excerpts of poems are painted on the ground with hydrophobic paint and they appear when the ground is wet
For the music-lovers: 7 Wonders Of Punggol
Experience the beauty of seven iconic locations within Punggol such as Coney Island and The Punggol Settlement through the multi-disciplinary performance of Brahmastral, a Singapore-based Indian fusion band. The performance is a blend of music, poetry and puppetry.
For people who love a good story: The World Of Teochew Music
Bring the seniors you know and love and immerse in the world of Teochew music, complete with traditional puppetry and storytelling. The performance is a collaboration between Nam Hwa Teochew Music Ensemble and theatre practitioner and puppeteer Bright Ong.
