The Singapore Writers Festival (SWF), an annual celebration of written and spoken word in Singapore’s four official languages, might still be some months away, but until then, you can enjoy events from its archive. Its YouTube playlist, SWF & Chill, offers performances, lectures and discussions by prominent artists and authors featured in past editions of the festival. This House Believes That Singaporeans Are In The Mood For Love
Get your heart racing with this passionate debate about Singaporeans’ appetite for love. This debate, which features poet Gwee Li Sui and comedian Fakkah Fuzz, was held at the 2016 Festival.
For the family man
Explore the power of familial love with theatre practictioner Zaaki Nasir. He shares a heartfelt story of his relationship with his late grandmother. His video is in response to the 2016 Festival theme, sayang, a Malay word that can mean love, or regret.
For the poetry lover
Not By Bread Alone Or Choice
Learn all about writing poetry from veteran Singapore poet Anne Lee Tzu Pheng. In this recorded lecture from the 2017 Festival, she shares her insights after more than 30 years of writing poetry. The lecture is part of the Literary Pioneer Programme, curated by The Arts House and specially commissioned for the 2017 Festival.
